Chamomile plants for sale, shipped as live, organically grown plants ready to pot up or plant the day they arrive.

Chamomile is a classic herb garden plant prized for its delicate, apple-scented daisy-like flowers and its long tradition in teas and aromatic gardens. We carry German chamomile — an annual that produces an abundance of flowers ideal for drying and brewing — and Roman chamomile, a perennial ground cover with a similarly calming fragrance and low, creeping growth habit. All of our chamomile plants are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, making them safe for harvesting and brewing.

FAQs

What's the difference between German chamomile and Roman chamomile?

German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is an annual that grows 2–3 feet tall and produces abundant flowers ideal for drying and brewing tea. Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is a low-growing perennial ground cover with a similar fragrance, often used between stepping stones or as a fragrant lawn alternative. Both are used for tea, though German chamomile is more commonly grown for that purpose.

Are your chamomile plants organically grown?

Yes. All of our chamomile plants are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, making them safe to harvest, dry, and brew.

How do I harvest chamomile for tea?

Harvest chamomile flowers when they're fully open — when the petals have just begun to bend back from the center. Pick in the morning after the dew has dried. Lay flowers in a single layer in a warm, well-ventilated spot to dry for several days before storing in an airtight container.

Is chamomile easy to grow?

Yes — chamomile is one of the easiest herbs to grow. German chamomile prefers full sun and well-drained soil, tolerates light frost, and self-seeds prolifically, returning year after year from dropped seed. Roman chamomile is similarly low-maintenance and makes an attractive, fragrant ground cover in the right spot.

What if my chamomile plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your chamomile arrives damaged, send us a photo within a few days of delivery and we'll arrange a free replacement.
