Planting in 1/2 Gallon Pots

  1. Open your box of seedlings and mist or lightly water them.
  2. Saturate your felt grow pots with water to prepare them for planting.
  3. Pour your soil into a large bowl or tray and saturate with water. Soil should be damp but not dripping when picked up and squeezed.
  4. Fill a pot ¾ full with soil. Add 1 TBSP of worm castings plus 1 TBSP of fertilizer blend. Mix everything together in the pot.
  5. Coat the roots of your seedling with ~1 tsp of mycorrhizal fungi powder (Mykos). Sprinkle it on over the pot to catch the excess Mykos that falls.
  6. Create a hole in the potted soil for the seedling and carefully place it in the space.
  7. Add more soil until it is at the base of the stem, about ½" from top of the pot.
  8. Water the pot while avoiding getting the leaves wet. More soil may be needed as the water makes it more compact.

9. After planting your seedlings, place them in moderate shade/sunlight. It is important to give the roots time to get established in the new pot. Check for dryness every day, watering if soil isn't moist an inch below the surface (check with a finger).
10. After a few days, move your potted seedlings into direct sunlight and watch them begin to really take off. Plants are happy with 4-6 hours of direct sunlight every day. Continue watering as needed.

Setting Up Pre-Planted Seedlings

Planting in Large Pots

  • For 7-gallon pots, use one 27-quart bag of organic soil.
  • For 15-gallon pots, use two 27-quart bags of organic soil.

Replacing Seedlings & Reconditioning Soil

  1. Remove what's left of your plant, including the main root clump. Loose roots may stay behind and will break down over time.
  2. Remove about 1/4 of the soil from the pot. Save it as you will be adding it back later.
  3. Mix in 1/2 TBSP of worm castings and 1 TBSP of fertilizer into the top inch of soil still in the pot.
  4. Create a hole in the soil for your new seedling to fit into.
  5. Coat your new seedling's roots with 1 tsp of mycorrhizal fungi powder (Mykos). Sprinkle it on over the pot to catch any excess powder that falls.
  6. Coat over the Mykos with 1/2 TBPS of fertilizer.
  7. Place your new seedling in the hole you dug in step #4.
  8. Add back the soil you removed.
  9. Water & care for the plant as you normally would.
