Haifa Trailing Rosemary is a live 4-inch plant that grows outward rather than up — fine needled evergreen stems that trail over a wall or a pot rim, dotted with soft blue flowers across much of the season.

Rosmarinus officinalis 'Haifa' is built for the hard, sunny, fast-draining places: a rock garden, the front lip of a raised bed, the top of a retaining wall where the stems can pour over. Once established it shrugs off heat and dry spells, which makes it a natural in low-water plantings and on slopes. Bees find the flowers early, and a hand brushed along the stems leaves the resinous scent with you for an hour.

Fun fact: the old botanical name reads like poetry — ros marinus, Latin for dew of the sea, after the plants growing on Mediterranean coastal cliffs within reach of the spray.
