California Fuchsia saves its show for late summer and fall, covering low, gray-green clumps with abundant scarlet to red-orange trumpets just as much of the dry garden is winding down.

Native to California, it thrives in full sun or light afternoon shade in lean, rocky, well-drained soil. Once established it handles heat and drought on its own, and an occasional deep soak stretches the bloom even longer. Few California natives draw more hummingbirds. Creeping rhizomes widen the clump over time into a resilient cover for a sunny slope; cut the dormant stems to the ground after bloom.

Fun fact: Despite the name, it isn't a fuchsia, but the two are cousins in the evening primrose family.

We send out deliveries on a weekly schedule to ensure quick transit times, so your order may not be packaged and shipped until later in the week. For instance, we may hold shipments to avoid weekend delays that keep plants in transit for longer.

Additionally, any delays or damages in shipping are covered by our Healthy Plant Guarantee.
