Collection: Chrysanthemum Plants for Sale

Chrysanthemum plants for sale, shipped as live, established plants ready to go in the ground or a container.

Chrysanthemums, better known as mums, are the classic source of fall color, covering themselves in tight cushions of blooms in gold, bronze, orange, purple, red, and soft peach just as most summer flowers fade. Garden mums form neat, mounded plants that fill beds, borders, porches, and containers for weeks, and many varieties return as perennials when planted early enough to root in. Late-season blooms also give bees and butterflies a valuable nectar source.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. "Mum" is short for chrysanthemum. Garden mums, also called hardy mums, are varieties bred to grow outdoors, with compact, mounded habits and masses of small to medium blooms. Florist mums are a different group grown mostly as cut flowers and gift plants. Garden mums are perennial in roughly USDA zones 5–9. To help them come back, plant early so roots establish before the ground freezes, water well into fall, and leave the stems standing over winter for protection. Many gardeners also enjoy them as seasonal container plants. Most garden mums bloom from late summer through fall, triggered by lengthening nights. Pinching off the growing tips two or three times, with the last pinch in late June or early July, produces bushier plants with more flowers. Full sun, at least 6 hours a day, gives the most flowers and the sturdiest plants. Mums prefer well-drained soil and consistent moisture. Containers dry out quickly and may need daily watering in warm weather. We stand behind every plant we ship. If your chrysanthemum arrives damaged, send us a photo within a few days of delivery and we'll arrange a free replacement.
