Yukina Savoy is a certified organic live 2-inch starter plant that sits somewhere between tatsoi and a savoy cabbage — upright rosettes of deeply puckered, dark forest-green leaves on thick, succulent white stems.

The flavor is mild, sweet and faintly buttery, without the mustard edge of most Asian greens, and the bubbled leaf holds its texture through cooking rather than collapsing. Use it raw in a slaw, sautéed hard with garlic, or dropped into a winter soup at the last minute. It is genuinely cold hardy, and a light frost makes it sweeter.

Grower's note: it wants room to stand up. Give each plant a foot of space and the rosette opens properly; crowded, it stretches and the stems go thin.
