About this Plant
Great Expectations Hosta (Hosta 'Great Expectations') is a magnificent, award-winning shade perennial celebrated for its large, dramatically puckered leaves with creamy-white to golden-yellow centers surrounded by wide, irregular blue-green margins — one of the most breathtaking and sought-after foliage combinations in the entire genus. The bold, oval leaves develop rich golden-yellow centers early in the season that gradually transition to creamy white as summer progresses, creating a dynamic, ever-changing foliage display that keeps the shade garden feeling fresh and evolving. Pale lavender to white bell-shaped flowers rise gracefully above the stunning foliage in summer, adding a delicate seasonal accent to the dramatic leaf show below.
These Professional Grade 4" plants are grown to the highest nursery standards, delivering well-rooted specimens that establish steadily and develop into increasingly spectacular garden showpieces with each passing year. Great Expectations Hosta thrives in partial to full shade with rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil and is an outstanding choice for woodland garden specimens, shaded border anchors, and large containers where its extraordinary foliage can be fully appreciated. It pairs beautifully with dark-leaved companions, ferns, and fine-textured shade perennials.
