These 4" healthy live plants thrive in full sun in well-draining, lean to moderately fertile soil. Excellent drainage is essential — Gaura is sensitive to wet winter conditions and heavy clay soil. Water consistently during the first season to establish the deep taproot; once established, reduce irrigation to low and infrequent. Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Mature height: 18–24 inches; spread: 18–24 inches. Blooms late spring through hard frost. Cut back by one-third in midsummer if the plant becomes leggy to refresh foliage and stimulate a strong second flush of bloom through fall.
