Wayne Roderick Seaside Daisy (Erigeron glaucus 'Wayne Roderick') is a beloved California native perennial groundcover producing a generous flush of soft lavender daisy flowers with warm golden centers over a remarkably long bloom season. Named in honor of the celebrated California native plant authority Wayne Roderick, this outstanding cultivar is widely regarded as one of the finest selections of Erigeron glaucus available — prized for its vigorous, spreading habit, exceptional drought tolerance, and prolific, season-long flowering performance in both coastal and inland Mediterranean-climate gardens.
Grown from certified organic heritage stock, each plant arrives with a Professional Grade root system fully established and ready for vigorous establishment across a wide range of challenging conditions. Wayne Roderick thrives in full sun to part shade with excellent drainage and is exceptionally adaptable to coastal conditions, sandy and rocky soils, and low-water landscapes. Like all Erigeron glaucus selections, it is highly salt-spray tolerant and wind resistant, making it an invaluable choice for seaside gardens, coastal bluffs, and exposed slopes where most ornamental perennials cannot survive or perform reliably.
- Named California Native Selection — Honored in the name of celebrated California native plant authority Wayne Roderick, this cultivar represents one of the finest and most widely respected selections of coastal Erigeron glaucus available.
- Extended Prolific Bloom Season — Soft lavender daisy flowers with golden centers bloom abundantly from spring through summer and into fall, delivering one of the longest native bloom windows in the landscape.
- Exceptional Drought & Water-Wise Performance — Highly drought tolerant once established, thriving with minimal supplemental irrigation in low-water, water-wise, and California-friendly landscape applications.
- Salt Spray & Coastal Wind Tolerant — Thrives in full coastal exposure including salt spray, strong coastal winds, and sandy soils where the vast majority of ornamental perennials fail to establish or persist.
- Native Pollinator & Butterfly Habitat — Lavender daisy blooms with golden centers provide essential nectar and pollen for native bees, monarch butterflies, and beneficial insects throughout the extended bloom season.
These 4" healthy live plants thrive in full sun to part shade with excellent soil drainage — plant in well-drained to sandy or rocky soil and water moderately until established, after which natural rainfall is often sufficient in coastal and Mediterranean climates. Hardy in USDA zones 5–9, growing 6–12" tall with a spread of 18–24". Blooms spring through fall (April–October) in coastal and mild climates. Shear lightly after the main bloom flush to encourage a clean second wave of flowers and maintain a tidy, attractive mounding form throughout the season.
