Apricot Digiplexis sends peachy-yellow bells up tall stems, each one opening to a pale throat with a long lower lip — a live 4-inch plant of Digiplexis Illumination 'Apricot' that reads foxglove from clear across the garden.

It is sterile, and that is the point: with no seed to set, the plant keeps pushing spikes from summer into fall instead of quitting after one round. Use it for vertical color at the back of a border or as the thriller in a large pot, in full sun or partial shade with humus-rich soil kept evenly moist and well drained. Hummingbirds find it fast. Cut the main spike as it fades and side shoots take over.

Fun fact: the name is a mash-up of its parents — garden foxglove (Digitalis) crossed with Isoplexis, a shrubby foxglove cousin from the Canary Islands. The tropical coloring and marathon bloom come from that second side of the family.
