About this Plant

Sabatius Convolvulus (Convolvulus sabatius, syn. C. mauritanicus), commonly known as Ground Morning Glory, is a gorgeous, trailing Mediterranean perennial that produces a seemingly endless cascade of soft lavender-blue, funnel-shaped flowers from spring through fall. The silky, rounded leaves on slender, spreading stems create a soft, flowing texture that drapes beautifully over walls, cascades from containers and hanging baskets, or spreads as a delicate low groundcover across sunny garden beds. Few plants match its combination of long bloom season, soft romantic color, and graceful trailing habit for adding effortless beauty to the summer garden.

These Professional Grade 4" plants are grown to the highest nursery standards, producing well-developed root systems that establish quickly and spread vigorously through the growing season. Convolvulus sabatius is equally at home trailing over retaining walls, spilling from raised planters, flowing from window boxes, or blanketing the ground in sunny borders. It thrives in full sun with excellent drainage and handles heat and dry conditions with ease once established.

  • Non-Stop Lavender-Blue Blooms: Soft, silky lavender-blue morning glory flowers open continuously from spring through fall, delivering one of the longest bloom seasons of any trailing perennial available.
  • Graceful Trailing & Cascading Habit: Slender, spreading stems trail and cascade beautifully from containers, hanging baskets, raised beds, and over retaining walls, creating a soft, flowing effect in the landscape.
  • Heat & Drought Tolerant: Once established, thrives in hot, dry conditions with minimal supplemental irrigation — an outstanding performer in warm, sunny Mediterranean-climate gardens.
  • Versatile Garden & Container Plant: Equally beautiful as a groundcover, a wall draper, a hanging basket filler, or a container thriller-spiller — one of the most adaptable flowering trailing perennials available.
  • Pollinator Friendly: The open, funnel-shaped lavender-blue flowers attract bees and other beneficial pollinators throughout the long bloom season, adding ecological value to ornamental plantings.

These 4" healthy live plants thrive in full sun with well-drained to fast-draining soil. Water regularly until established, then reduce to occasional deep watering. Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11; trailing stems reach 6–12 inches tall with a spread of 2–3 feet. Blooms spring through fall (April–October). Trim lightly in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh, vigorous growth. Excellent for containers, walls, hanging baskets, and sunny groundcover applications.
