Snow Angel Japanese Anemone opens wide white semi-double flowers with clean yellow centers, held on wiry stems above a compact green clump. This is a live 4-inch Japanese anemone — all the late-season glow of a fall anemone, on a frame that stays in scale.

Give it the middle of a border or a generous patio pot, somewhere the white will read from across the garden at dusk. It mounds and clumps rather than sprawling, sits happily beside pastel companions, and blooms long enough that cutting an armful for the table costs you nothing. Full sun or a half day of shade both work, so long as the soil stays reliably moist.

Fun fact: Anemone comes from the Greek anemos, wind — hence the old common name windflower, earned by petals that quiver at the slightest movement of air.
