Honeysticks Ember Agastache (Agastache rupestris 'Honeysticks Ember') is a breathtaking, fiery-hued perennial hyssop that sets the summer border ablaze with its spectacular flower spikes in sizzling shades of orange-red that genuinely resemble glowing fire embers caught at the peak of their intensity. A striking selection of the threadleaf agastache species native to the mountains of New Mexico and Arizona, 'Honeysticks Ember' combines the exceptional drought tolerance and aromatic foliage of its wild ancestor with the dramatic, warm-toned bloom color that makes it one of the most visually arresting agastaches in cultivation. The fine-textured, licorice-mint scented foliage provides an attractive silver-green backdrop that makes the fiery orange-red spikes glow with even greater intensity.

These Professional Grade 4" plants are grown to the highest nursery standards, producing deep, well-developed root systems that establish quickly and deliver reliable season-long performance in sunny, well-drained locations. Honeysticks Ember Agastache is highly heat and drought tolerant once established — a natural fit for xeriscape gardens, dry borders, rock gardens, and pollinator-focused plantings in warm, sunny climates. Its fiery color palette pairs magnificently with cool blue companions such as salvias, nepetas, and ornamental grasses for maximum visual impact.

  • Spectacular Fiery Orange-Red Flower Spikes: Sizzling orange-red flower spikes that genuinely resemble glowing fire embers bring one of the most dramatic and intense warm-toned color displays available in any perennial agastache selection.
  • Outstanding Heat & Drought Tolerance: A true xeriscape perennial, deeply adapted to hot, dry, high-desert conditions — thrives with minimal supplemental irrigation once established, making it a cornerstone plant for water-wise garden designs.
  • Aromatic Licorice-Mint Foliage: Fine-textured, silvery-green leaves with a distinctive licorice-mint fragrance provide attractive year-round sensory interest and a beautiful silver backdrop that intensifies the visual impact of the fiery blooms.
  • Premier Hummingbird & Pollinator Plant: Tubular orange-red flowers are irresistible to hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees throughout the long summer and fall bloom season.
  • Long Bloom Season & Deer Resistant: Blooms prolifically from midsummer through fall with exceptional staying power; the aromatic foliage is naturally deer resistant, making it a valuable addition to gardens where deer pressure is a concern.

These 4" healthy live plants thrive in full sun with well-drained to dry, lean soil. Water regularly until established, then reduce to occasional deep watering. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–9; mature height 18–24 inches with a spread of 18–24 inches. Blooms midsummer through fall (July–October). Excellent drainage is essential — avoid heavy clay or consistently wet soils. Cut back by one-third in late winter to encourage vigorous new growth and maximum bloom production.
