Gaura lindheimeri 'Rosy Jane' (Gaura lindheimeri 'Rosy Jane', syn. Oenothera lindheimeri 'Rosy Jane') is a breathtakingly graceful, airy perennial that enchants with its distinctive, elegantly picotee-edged blooms — white petals delicately rimmed with a clear, soft pink edge that creates a two-toned romantic effect of quiet, understated sophistication. Slender, wiry stems bear these delicate butterfly-like flowers in a continuous, flowing abundance from late spring through the first frost, swaying with meditative, effortless grace in even the lightest garden breeze and creating the uniquely kinetic, naturalistic movement that makes Gaura one of the most beloved and irreplaceable perennials in the warm-season mixed border. The overall impression is one of romantic, diaphanous beauty — a plant that appears to float above the border like a gently hovering cloud of pale butterflies in perpetual, soft motion.

This professional-grade 4" plant arrives with a healthy, well-established root system cultivated through professional horticultural practices — ready to establish and begin growing quickly into its characteristic wiry, freely branching form. 'Rosy Jane' thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and tolerates dry conditions with excellent resilience — performing magnificently in mixed perennial borders, coastal gardens, Mediterranean-style landscapes, and sunny container arrangements where its airy, floating habit provides a uniquely light and romantic textural foil for bolder, more structural companion plants throughout a remarkably long season of bloom.

  • Distinctive White & Pink Picotee Blooms: White petals delicately rimmed with a clear, soft pink edge create a subtly sophisticated two-toned picotee effect of genuine romantic beauty — a distinctive and refined floral character that gives 'Rosy Jane' a quietly individual identity among all other gaura cultivars available for the warm-season garden.
  • Extraordinarily Long Bloom Season: Flowers continuously and abundantly from late spring through the first frost — one of the longest and most generous bloom seasons available among warm-season perennials — providing months of airy, floating picotee color and graceful movement with minimal maintenance or deadheading required throughout.
  • Unique Airy, Floating Garden Presence: Slender, wiry stems bearing delicate butterfly-like blooms sway with effortless, meditative grace in the lightest breeze — bringing the uniquely light, kinetic, and irreplaceable textural quality of Gaura to the border in a romantically soft, picotee-edged color that is entirely 'Rosy Jane's' own.
  • Exceptional Drought & Heat Tolerance: Once established, 'Rosy Jane' thrives in hot, dry, sunny conditions with minimal supplemental irrigation — a supremely adapted, low-maintenance warm-season performer for water-wise, xeriscape, and Mediterranean-style garden designs throughout a long and generous season.
  • Butterfly & Pollinator Magnet: The delicate, nectar-rich blooms attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds reliably throughout the exceptionally long bloom season — adding continuous, lively wildlife energy to mixed borders and sunny garden spaces from late spring through the first fall frost.

These 4" healthy live plants thrive in full sun (6+ hours daily) with well-drained, average to lean soil; avoid heavy clay and consistently wet conditions. Water moderately during establishment, then reduce to low supplemental irrigation. USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9; mature height: 24–36 inches in bloom; spread: 18–24 inches. Bloom time: late spring through first frost. Cut back by one-third in midsummer if plants become leggy to encourage fresh, compact growth and renewed prolific flowering through fall.
